WHAT IS LIFELINE?

Lifeline is a government program offering qualified low income households a discount on unlimited basic telephone service with the availability of long distance restrictions. The Idaho Telephone Service Assistance program (ITSAP) offers a $2.50 discount on monthly telephone bills. The Federal Communication Commission’s Lifeline Program (Lifeline) offers a monthly discount of $9.25.  Total of $11.75 off your monthly telephone bill if you qualify for both ITSAP and Lifeline. The discount applies to only one telephone number per household. Lifeline discount may be applied to your internet service now, but you can only receive a discount on ONE option – phone or internet. 

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

To qualify for both ITSAP and Lifeline, you must be a residential customer who is: 

  • Head of Household
  • Income Eligible (income cannot exceed 135% if Federal Poverty Guidelines).
  • In a federal assistance program such as Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Supplemental Security Income, Federal Public Housing Assistance or Veterans Sand Survivors Pension Benefit.
