You have two options to block your name and number from appearing on Caller ID phones or units. You may block name and number from displaying on a per call basis or every call you place. To block you information on a per call basis, simply dial *67 before the telephone number you are dialing. You can also look up How To Use Special Features in the front of your RTI Telephone book. If you would like to have your line continuously blocked or would like to remove a block from your line, please call 1-888-366-7821.

Sometimes telemarketing and other companies do not want to reveal their identity to those they call. You can block calls from people that have activated cancel calling number delivery by going to your Special Features guide in your Rural telephone book or call 1-888-366-7821.

Call RTI to request a block on 900 numbers. There is no fee for this service.

You need to contact RTI and request Caller ID Block to be added to your account. This service is not available in all areas.

Sometimes telemarketing and other companies do not want to reveal their identity to those they call. You can request “Anonymous Call Rejection”. This will stop you from receiving calls from any company or individual who does not want to reveal their identity.

You can register for a period of three years. This may prevent most unwanted telemarketing calls, but will not stop all sales calls. Once you are registered you may still receive calls from: Charitable organizations, Religious corporations, Political parties and committees. Companies with whom you have a prior business relationship, telemarketers who wish to arrange for a face-to-face before concluding a sales transaction Violators are subject to a penalty of up to $2,000.

“Slamming” is when a telephone company changes your carrier without your permission. Sometimes this is by fraudulent means. You can contact your local carrier and request that a third party cannot change your carriers. You would be the only one authorized to make changes in the future.

“Cramming” is the practice of placing unauthorized, misleading, or deceptive charges on your telephone bill. Crammers rely on confusing telephone bills in an attempt to trick consumers into paying for services they did not authorize or receive. Charges could look like “service fee” “voicemail” or “calling plan”. Any charge that you believe you did not order should be reported to RTI and immediately call the company that charged you for calls or service you did not make or authorize. There are five different call types. Local calls are the most common.

Interlata calls are within your region, but are subject to higher charges than local rates. Usually such calls will be within your own are code.

Intrastate calls are within your own state. Since intrastate calls are subject to different taxes than Interstate calls, it can sometimes be more expensive to call within your own State.

Interstate calls are outside your state.

International calls are outside the United States.

Theoretically you could have a different company handling each type of call. However, monthly fees or minimum call volume make it more common to choose one company for the other calls.
